What can I put in the Compost Bucket?
All kitchen food waste including meat, small bones, citrus and fruit and veggie peels.
How long will it take for my food waste to break down in the Compost Bucket?
It takes a couple of weeks.
Do I need to empty the broken down food waste from the Compost Bucket?
No, the bugs and worms will do this for you, simply FILL, FORGET, REFILL. Every couple of months you can remove the organic matter at the bottom of the bucket but it is not necessary.
How does the Compost Bucket break down the food waste?
The Compost Bucket is unique in the way it composts food waste, it uses a combination of methods; open-air, direct soil contact, bugs and worm and microorganisms in the soil to break down the food.
Do I need to add any chemicals, soil or leaf litter to the Compost Bucket?
No, nothing else is required, just water.
How do Compost Buckets work with dog waste?
Add dog waste, occasionally add food scraps and add water to keep wet, the bugs and soldier fly will then break it down. Every now and then flush with water to reduce the waste quicker.
Does the Compost Bucket smell with cat and dog waste?
It usually doesn't smell but if you find it smells, simply cover over with some mulch and to contain the smell.
What is the Compost Bucket made from?
The Compost Bucket is made from certified food grade virgin polypropylene plastic. It has a life expectancy of 10 years and can be recycled at the end of it's useful life.
Do you have a recycled plastic Compost Bucket?
Yes we do however it is not recommended for use within veggie gardens as the source of the plastic is unknown. We can sell these for the use with cat and dog waste only and they are less sturdy and have a life expectancy of 2-3 years and can't be re- recycled.
